Pine Lawn police fundraise for paralyzed Rock Hill officer

(KMOV) - The Pine Lawn police department is stepping forward to help the family of a Rock Hill officer shot in the line of duty.

Officer Matt Crosby of Rock Hill remains in the hospital, paralyzed from the waist down after being shot on duty Thursday night.

Crosby, a father of three, worked in the Pine Lawn Police Department before moving to Rock Hill.

Pine Lawn Police Chief Rickey Collins, who was Crosby's commader of field operations when he was there, told News 4 Crosby was a dedicated officer who always showed up on time looking forward to his day's work.

Collins said the department is raising money among employees to give to Crosby's family.

"When any officer is shot, it concerns me and saddens me," said Collins. "When I heard it was Matt, I obviously had the same feelings of sadness and disappointment. We all know it's a dangerous job we just pray for him and his family. "

Heartland Bank also set up a fund to help the Crosby family.
