Prof. pleads not guilty in child porn case

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A California college professor has pleaded not guilty to charges of producing child pornography.

Forty-six-year-old Kenneth Kyle entered the plea Wednesday in San Francisco federal court.

The indictment against Kyle and 20-year-old Tessa Van Vlerah of Ballwin, Mo., accuses them of taking photos while sexually abusing a child during Kyle's visits to the St. Louis area.

Kyle was arrested last month after authorities found hundreds of child porn pictures on his computers.

Officials say he resigned Monday from his position as assistant professor of public affairs and administration at California State University East Bay.

St. Louis County prosecutors also have charged both with statutory rape, sodomy and promoting child pornography. Van Vlerah, a single mother and student, also is charged with incest.
