Police: Highland man files false report of stabbing; wounds were self-inflicted
By Afton Spriggs
(KMOV) – A man from Highland, Illinois has been charged for telling police about a stabbing that never happened.
Eric Pack, 22, told Highland police that a suspect forced his way into Pack’s apartment and then hit him with a pistol.
Pack said that he then stabbed the suspect in the stomach with a steak knife and that the suspect then left Pack’s home in a silver SUV.
Investigators say that Pack had cuts on his head, blood on his shirt and the front door of his apartment was damaged.
After interviewing Pack, detectives found conflicting statements and evidence. Pack later admitted to making up the story. He told detectives that his injuries were self-inflicted and that he caused the damage in his apartment.
Police have not found a motive in this incident.
Pack has been charged with knowingly filing a false police report. He is being held on $20,000 bond.
