UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (AP/KMOV) -- A suspect is dead after a police chase in St. Louis County.
The chase began late Monday in St. Ann. It ended in University City when the car being chased struck a parked tractor-trailer.
Two suspects were in the car being chased. David Bailey, 17, of Edmundson died and the 16-year-old driver was injured.
St. Ann police say the incident began when an officer tried to stop the car for a traffic violation. The driver refused to stop and a chase began. Police say a records check indicated the car had been stolen.
The St. Ann officer involved in the chase is on administrative leave while an investigation continues.
Formal charges have not been filed, but the police chief in St. Ann tells News 4 he hopes murder charges are filed against the driver.
Three parked cars were damaged in the wreck.
