A 29-year-old man from St. Louis was charged on Monday with identity theft in connection to fraudulent transactions appearing on an account belonging to two different victims.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation in March involving fraudulent transactions appearing on an account belonging to two different victims. The charges were appearing on the victims' debit and credit cards. The victims, in every case, still had possession of their cards, and had not lost the card. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office recognized that someone had possibly skimmed the numbers from each of the victims.

Detectives were able to identify Militano Johnson as a suspect.

The investigation is still ongoing to determine if Johnson was using a skimming device in other areas in the states of Illinois and Missouri. Additional charges may be forthcoming against Johnson, and other individuals involved.

Bond was set at $200,000.00
