COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- A published report says Missouri is close to hiring a replacement for former women's basketball coach Cindy Stein.
The Columbia Daily Tribune reports that athletics director Mike Alden and two other school officials have lined up interviews with "five or fewer" unnamed candidates. The interviews were taking place in St. Louis on Monday and Tuesday.
Stein resigned in March after the Tigers posted just two conference wins in the rugged Big 12. She led Missouri to three NCAA tournaments in 12 years but also had six losing seasons.
Executive associate athletics director Sarah Reesman and Alden assistant Gary Link are also involved in the out-of-town interviews. Link is a men's basketball announcer who played for former Tiger coach Norm Stewart.
