(KMOV) -- New information is available about a porch collapse that injured seven residents in south St. Louis on Wednesday.
St. Louis city had concerns about the deck months ago. A letter that a city building inspector sent to the landlord of the home in January cites a major violation with the deck. The notice stated that missing ballisters needed to be replaced on the deck.
Ironically, an inspector was due to return to the home on Friday.
The building's landlord could not be reached for comment. The landlord will, however, have to answer to city inspectors as to why and how the deck collapsed, and why proper precautions were not taken to prevent the accident.
City officials say they have no idea if any of the repairs were made to the deck. Records uncovered do indicate that some repairs were made six years ago.
