EDWARDSVILLE - A man who was only 16 at the time of the victim's death pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree murder in the Jan. 31, 2008, torture killing of a mentally disabled woman in Alton.

Benny Lee Wilson, 18, of the 2900 block of Hillcrest Avenue, pleaded guilty to one count in Madison County Circuit Court and could receive a sentence ranging between 20 and 60 years in prison.

The prosecution offered no consideration in exchange for the guilty plea.

Assistant Madison County State's Attorney Jennifer Vucich said at a hearing Monday that Wilson was one of the defendants responsible for the long-term abuse and torture that led to the death of Dorothy L. Dixon and her unborn fetus.
