CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois opens spring football Tuesday, and for the first time in a long time Juice Williams won't be on the field.

Illinois coach Ron Zook says he'll miss the Chicago quarterback he recruited and made the face of his program. Williams finished at Illinois with last season's 3-9 campaign.

Zook isn't sure who'll replace Williams. Redshirt sophomore Jacob Charest has the early inside track.

The Illini also welcome back middle linebacker Martez Wilson. Wilson sat out most of last season with a neck injury and isn't cleared yet for contact. But Zook says Wilson will practice.

Zook says he doesn't feel any more pressure than he would in another season. Fans grumbled after last season, and Illinois fired four assistant coaches.
