ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Gov. Jay Nixon has ordered all U.S. and Missouri flags to be at half-staff on all government buildings in St. Louis Tuesday in honor of St. Louis police officer David Haynes.

The 27-year-old newlywed died Wednesday in a wreck while pursuing a burglary suspect. His funeral Mass is Tuesday at the Cathedral Basilica.

Haynes was a Marine Corps veteran who was commissioned as a police officer in January 2009. During his time in the Marines, he served in Iraq.

The suspect, 23-year-old Sheldon Beckham, is charged with second-degree murder, stealing less than $500 and resisting arrest.

Haynes will be buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery immediately after the Mass.
