Jaime Garcia set to start against Twins

JUPITER, Fla. (KMOV) - The Minnesota Twins are scheduled to play the Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium. The only problem is, rain is pelting down here in Jupiter and is forecasted to continue all afternoon.

The Twins waited an extra hour to leave their complex in Fort Myers to wait and see how the weather develops, but have hit the road with plans to play today. Of course, I'll keep you updated on the weather-front, but as of right now am assuming there will be a ball game.

23-year-old Jaime Garcia is scheduled to get his first start of spring today, an indication that Cardinals' management is closer and closer to naming him the fifth starter in the rotation. If that isn't indicator enough, Cardinals manager Tony La Russa confirmed Kyle McClellan, who has been battling Garcia and Rich Hill for that fifth spot, will be pitching out of the bullpen today. Garcia has been nearly lights-out all spring, highlighted by his last outing in which he tossed a four-inning save against the Houston Astros in Kissimmee.

Garcia will face a lineup deprived of heavy-hitters Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau, as they will not make the cross-state trip to Jupiter. The Cardinals lineup, however, has the looks of a lineup you might see in mid-April, besides obviously Matt Pagnozzi, who will play in the place of Jason LaRue.

4. Matt Holliday, LF

5. Colby Rasmus, CF
