This morning I covered a story about a deadly crash on I-55. We are told seven college students from Wisconsin were coming back from a spring break trip in Texas. When the driver of the van lost control of the vehicle when he tried to avoid hitting a car merging into his lane. We are told the driver then hit a guard rail and a concrete pillar. Ems crews pronounced the driver dead at the scene of the crash. Two of the other victims are listed in serious condition. While the four other students are listed in stable condition. We are told some of the students have internal bleeding, head, and neck injures.
According to Missouri Highway Patrol only one of the seven students involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt. At this point there is no word on what time the students left the Texas area to travel to Wisconsin.
