PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (KMOV) - Cardinals pitching coach Dave Duncan is entering his 31st season (28th with manager Tony La Russa) as a major-league pitching coach, the longest tenure at that position in baseball history.
When people talk about the best pitching coaches in the majors, Duncan's name is always one of the first to pop up. Duncan has been associated with eight Cy Young Award winners in his career, and is well-known for his ability to take on reclamation projects and turn veterans with average careers into stars.
Cardinals manager Tony La Russa talked to the media today, and gave insight into what makes Duncan such a special coach.
