(BaseballStL) -- The wait is over. St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter will start Game 7 of the World Series on Friday night.
The Card's manager stayed mum about the possibility of who would start Game 7 until Game 6 was over. Following the dramatics in Game 6, La Russa told reporters that he had only started to think about Game 7.
"Just barely started to think about tomorrow,” La Russa said. “But actually it'll be fun to think about it now, because there is a Game 7. Might just roll Jake (Westbrook) back out there, who knows."
Westbrook was the winning pitcher in Game 6 after hurling a scoreless 11th inning.
Carpenter was able to be considered to start Game 7 after Game 6 was postponed on Wednesday due to rain. Carpenter would be on three day’s rest if he does pitch Game 7.
The Cardinals ace has allowed four runs in 13 innings pitched during the World Series.
Carpenter is 8-2 with a 3.06 ERA in 14 career postseason starts.
