Cardinals one-two hitters continue to come up short in World Series

(BaseballStL) -- The St. Louis Cardinals have many reasons as to why they did not win the World Series, but none may be as important than the lack of productivity from the number one and two hitters in the batting order.

The Cardinals one and two hitters combined to hit 5-for-48 and scored only four runs and struck out eight times in front of the most-feared slugger, Albert Pujols, in the World Series.

Pujols was walked nine times (five intentional) and was 6-for-23 with three home runs and six RBIs in the World Series.
