(KMOV) – Five people were treated Monday night after a two-alarm fire at the Fairwinds retirement community in St. Charles.
According to fire officials, the fire broke out just before 7:45 p.m. Four people were treated for smoke-related injuries and one person was treated for a hip injury while trying to escape the fire. Of the four people treated for smoke, three were transported and one was treated at the scene.
Two employees at the home extinguished the fire. One of them, an 18-year-old, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
