EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- A jury deliberated for less than four hours before convicting a former Southern Illinois University student of attempting to make a terrorist threat.

The jurors in Madison County also found 26-year-old Olutosin Oduwole guilty of unauthorized possession or storage of a weapon.

Oduwole is an aspiring rapper who insisted he was only sketching out lyrics when he wrote what authorities call a note threatening a Virginia Tech-like "murderous rampage."

Prosecutors say the note found in Oduwole's car on SIU's campus in Edwardsville amounted to a threat when found just months the fatal attack at Virginia Tech.

After Tuesday's verdict, the judge immediately revoked Oduwole's bond and had him taken into custody.

Oduwole could receive probation or up to 15 years in prison. No sentencing date has been set.
