NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) -- Nebraska authorities say four children have been removed from a filthy trailer home where a 3-year-old boy and his 5-year-old brother were kept in a wire dog kennel.
A spokesman for North Platte Police says the children were removed from the home late yesterday after someone called and said police should check on the welfare of the children. Investigating officers are said to have found trash, animal feces and the stench of urine in the home.
One of the officers found the boys in a 30-by-42-inch wire dog kennel. The mother allegedly said she put her boys in the kennel at night to keep them from climbing out of the trailer through a window.
There were no signs the boys were physically abused or malnourished. The children have been placed with state authorities.
