SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (AP) -- A newborn baby girl wrapped in a green reusable shopping bag was found at a suburban Chicago church.
Members of the church found the bag on top a vehicle in the parking lot after Sunday services. Gospel Presbyterian Church elder Bob Song says he heard sounds coming from the bag and looked inside to find a teddy bear. Below the toy was an orange bath towel bundled around the baby. Song says the baby "opened her eyes and looked at us."
Police in Schaumburg say the 7-pound baby girl is Asian. She was taken to the hospital, where officials say she is in good health.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services will take custody when she's released from the hospital.
Authorities are looking for information about the baby.
