ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- The next time you need a root canal, just be thankful you don't have a tooth that measures more than 3 inches long.
That's what doctors in Anchorage, Alaska, had to deal with on Thursday when they performed a root canal on a 300-pound Siberian tiger.
An Anchorage dentist, Dr. Doug Luiten performed the procedure on Kunali in a new operating room at the Alaska Zoo in Anchorage.
The zoo had to order special instruments for the big tooth, and even those had to be modified for the procedure.
By all accounts, Kunali did well during root canal. He wasn't restrained, but also didn't wake up during the hour-long procedure thanks to anesthesia.
