Man injured after trying to hop train in south St. Louis City

(KMOV.com) -- A man was rushed to a hospital after he attempted to hop a train in south St. Louis City Thursday morning. 

According to police, the homeless man was trying to jump onto a Union Pacific train in the 6700 block of South Broadway sometime before 8:30 a.m. The man didn't quite make it onto the train and was injured. He was taken to St. Louis University Hospital with unknown injuries. He is expected to survive.

The train was traveling from Jefferson Barracks to the Poplar Street Bridge when the accident happened.
