(KMOV) – A woman faces charges after she allegedly stabbed a Normandy police officer with a steak knife at her home in north St. Louis County on Tuesday.
Tinisha Washington was charged with first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action and resisting arrest.
Normandy police say they were called to the 1200 block of Willingham for a disturbance call. Upon their arrival, Washington’s mother told them her daughter would not take her medicine and she wanted Washington to go to the hospital.
Police say Washington locked herself inside her bedroom and while officers tried talking to her, she opened the door and stabbed one of them near his eye with a steak knife.
Officers subdued Washington and she was taken into custody, where she remains on a $150,000 bond.
The officer was transported to the hospital and received five stitches. He is expected to fully recover.
