JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The 2014 campaign season is officially under way in Missouri.
Scores of candidates lined up Tuesday at the secretary of state’s office to file the paperwork that will put their names on the August primary ballot.
One of the first to pass through the line was Missouri Congresswoman Ann Wagner of suburban St. Louis. For her, the paperwork marked a culmination of events. She hosted a reception Monday for Republican lawmakers, attended an event at the Missouri Farm Bureau and then joined GOP Missouri House members at an early Tuesday caucus.
Candidates who file on the first day draw random numbers to determine the order they will be listed on the ballot.
The filing period runs through March 25.
