(KMOV) -- A St. Charles man was charged with burglary after he allegedly broke into the West Clay Animal Hospital to steal diazepam on Monday.
James D. Heck, 33, had entered the building located at 2705 West Clay, and had been seen by a witness who was in the building at the time of the break in.
The witness then exited the building and notified authorities of the break in.
Upon police arrival, a search of the building was conducted and Heck was found hiding in the basement bathroom. Authorities were then notified of three missing diazepam bottles from the surgical area.
After further searching, authorities found the bottles hidden in storage. Heck was found with a puncture wound on the inner portion of his left arm.
Heck was charged with burglary in the first degree.
