(KMOV.com) — As residents and officials continue to track the efforts to grow local jobs in technology, Tuesday saw the release of raw numbers.

Local technology start-ups are expected to hire more than 250 new employees in the first half of this year.

The non-profit ITEN surveyed local start-up that say about 30 percent of the jobs are technical.

“They’re looking for sales people, they’re looking for marketing people, they’re looking for accountants, legal assistance, and finance people and admin people,” said Jim Brasunas with ITEN. “So, as a company grows from two or three people up to 20 people, there’s going to be all kinds of different people who have to come in and join that company.”

Start-ups reported more than 800 employees on their payrolls last year.

That number was fewer than 500 in 2010.
