Metro proposes rate hikes totaling more than $2 million

(KMOV) – Metro Transit- St. Louis plans to hold three public information sessions and a public hearing about proposed rate hikes that are scheduled to go into effect July 2014.

The meetings will give Metro riders the chance to give feedback on three different rate hike proposals. Each proposal totals to an increase of more than $2 million.

According to Metro Transit- St. Louis, the fares riders currently pay are not enough to keep operations running.

“We are looking for another $2.25 million that would sustain the current service levels and operating costs,” said Patti Beck of Metro Transit.

According to Metro’s website, the public meetings are scheduled to take place on the following dates and times:

The public hearing is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 1 inside the board room of Metro Headquarters located at 707 North First Street in downtown St. Louis.
