(KMOV) – Detectives are investigating after a teenager was found shot to death on a baseball field in a St. Louis park.

According to police, James Moore was waiting for the school bus going to Sumner High School when he was approached by a masked gunman near the intersection of Goodfellow and St. Louis Ave. around 7:20 a.m.

Moore ran into the park and was chased by the gunman and was shot an unknown number of times. The victim fell in the outfield of the ballpark.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No suspects are in custody at this time. 

The cause of the shooting is unknown.
