Two suspects charged in string of Metro-East burglaries, 1 at large

(KMOV) – The Madison County Sheriff’s Department charged three suspects in connection to a residential burglary that happened on Thursday, October 17, in the Metro-East.

Dylan Bird, 20, Jessica McCarty, 19, and Joshua Cooley, 24, were each charged Monday with felony burglary by the Madison County Circuit Court.

On Thursday, October 17, officers with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department responded to a home in the first block of Lakeview Acres Drive in Collinsville, Illinois, in reference to a residential burglary.

According to authorities, residents of the home reported forced entry and the theft of $50,000 worth of jewelry and $300 cash.

Following an investigation, Madison County Sheriff’s investigators developed information linking Bird, McCarty, and Cooley to the incident.

On Saturday, October 19, an investigator located Bird and McCarty.  Furthermore, nearly half of the stolen jewelry was also found.

Bird and McCarty were taken into custody and held at the Madison County Jail pending a formal investigation by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Following their arrest, investigators developed information during a separate investigation linking Bird and McCarty to a second theft reported to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, October 19, in the 200 block of Louise Drive, in Collinsville.

According to authorities, victims told deputies that the suspects stole sterling silver flatware, a camera, a collectible knife, as well as other items out of their home.

Bird and McCarty were identified as associates of the victims and were at the residence prior to the discovery of the theft, police said.

According to authorities, the two were also charged with an additional felony offense of theft over as it relates to the theft.

Bond for all three suspects was set at $50,000.
