(KMOV.com) – Charges have been filed against a Franklin County man accused of assaulting two men during an argument.
According to authorities, Dylan Carter, 33, of Robertsville has been charged with assault, armed criminal action and witness tampering. The suspect is being held in the Franklin County jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
Initial reports indicate that police learned of the Wednesday night incident when Missouri Baptist Hospital personnel contacted authorities about a patient being treated for a gunshot wound to the back. According to authorities, the victim, Donald Petzold, 41, of St. Clair had been shot in the back.
Petzold was stabilized and transported by air to Barnes-Jewish Hospital for further treatment.
Police later learned that a second victim, Dallon Ausbrooks,26, had been hit multiple times in the head and face with the butt of a rifle. Ausbrooks was treated for his injuries and released from the hospital.
After talking with the victims, investigators determined that the incident took place Wednesday night in the 1300 block of Lollar Branch Road.
Carter was arrested Thursday and charges were formally filed on Friday.
