(KMOV) – More than a half-dozen cars were overturned after a train derailed in Bond County, Ill. Monday morning.

At least nine train cars were scattered along the tracks after 18 cars derailed near Main St. west of Smithboro just before 6 a.m. Dozens of wheels were also strewn around the track.

Authorities said the 59-car CSX train was heading to East St. Louis from Avon, Ind.

Several firefightes and railroad crews were on the scene. No injuries or hazardous material leaks were reported.

The cause of the derailment was not immediately known.
