(KMOV) – Multiple suspects are in custody after police say they found drugs in two different De Soto apartments located less than a block away from an elementary school.
According to police, officers on Friday responded to a disturbance call at an apartment complex in the 220 block of W. Miller St. around 2:25 p.m.
Upon their arrival, they heard a disturbance at an apartment and talked to a man who lived there. That’s when officers say they found 12 bags of marijuana packaged for sale, a grinder, scale and other drug paraphernalia.
The suspect told police he sold the drugs and was arrested for distribution of a controlled substance. He was booked and released pending application for warrants.
During the initial arrest, officers said they noticed a chemical smell coming from a nearby apartment. They investigated and found an active meth lab and a man hiding in a bedroom closet. He and a female resident were arrested and charged with manufacturing a controlled substance.
The identities of the three suspects have not been released.
Police say their sentencing could be upgraded because the apartments were located within a block of St. Rose Lima grade school.
