(FootballSTL) -- The Rams are 2-0 since Zac Stacy has started in the Rams offensive backfield. Maybe its no fluke that the Rams’ attack has thrived with Stacy in the lineup.
The Rams’ brutal loss to the San Francisco 48ers turned out to be the last straw for their struggling ground attack. In that game, the Rams stumbled to just 18 yards on 19 carries.
Stacy was inserted into the starting lineup last week against Jacksonville and rolled up 78 yards on 14 carries. Stacy continued to pound out the yards with 79 yards on 18 carries in the Rams win over the Houston Texans. The Rams running back is picking up steam, and so has their offense.
Stacy’s powerful running style has given the offense a dimension they haven’t seen since Steven Jackson left for the Atlanta Falcons. Stacy brings a physical, smash mouth style that gains yards after contact. Stacy’ presence has also made the Rams passing attack more respectable. Defenses now have to deal with the run, and the offense can also milk time off the clock.
After the 49er game, the Rams were ranked 30th in the NFL in yards after contact. It looks like Zac Stacy is bringing some power into the Rams power running game.
