(KMOV.com) -- Metro-East Police are looking for a man who beat up a gas station worker for cash and the crime was caught on tape.
Police in Cahokia said the suspect punched the station clerk multiple times in the head.
The victim, Kathleen Jacobs, said she doesn’t feel safe with her attacker on the streets but she will continue to work her overnight shifts.
“I really don’t like doing this,” Jacobs said, “But it’s a job.”
Jacobs has three small children and has to work at the BP Station on Camp Jackson Road to make ends meet and is disgusted with the actions of her attacker.
“It’s kind of repulsive actually,” said Jacobs, “That you would see a man, if he wants to call himself that, beat down this small woman.”
Inside the BP Station store is designed to protect Jacob as she sits in a secure room to serve customers, but on Wednesday night, Jacobs forgot to lock the door after refilling the ice. That is when police said the suspect noticed the door.
“I’m like, ‘What are you doing? You can’t come back here,’” said Jacobs, “And he was like, ‘Where is the money at?’”
Police said then the suspect punched Jacobs.
“I tried to open the register, but he kept yelling at me,” Jacobs said, “I’m like calm down, I can’t press my numbers in.”
Cahokia Police said this is the second time this BP Station has been robbed overnight. The last incident happened almost one year ago and Jacobs was the victim in that incident as well.
Police do not believe the two incidents are related.
Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Cahokia Police.
