Deputies said the officers went inside the home and were walking down the steps into the basement when they were ambushed by Nims, who fired shots at the deputies. The officers returned fire.
One of the officers, 22-year-old Nina Osia, was shot in calf and suffered a broken leg. The other officer, 43-year-old Michael Toombs, was struck in the arm and shoulder. Both were transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital where they were treated and released.
It wasn’t known if Nims was struck, but he ran away.
Dozens of officers from multiple agencies responded to the scene and are conducting an organized search effort for Nims.
He was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jean shorts. Police said he is armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
