(KMOV) -- Police said three suspects drove their vehicle into a beauty supply store in north St. Louis Friday morning and stole a laptop computer, but really wanted an ATM.
Authorities said they got a call about a pick-up truck that slammed into a store front in the 4100 block of Newstead around 4:20 a.m. The suspects reportedly rammed the storefront of Sal's Beauty Supply with the back of their truck, causing extensive damage. Police believe the suspects were attempting to steal an ATM from inside the store.
Witnesses described the truck as a charcoal-colored, extended cab pick-up with tinted windows and should have extensive rear-end damage. Officers later spotted a truck matching that description and followed it. At this time it is unclear if that vehicle was the one used in the burglary.
According to police, the store's surveillance system caught the three suspects in the act. Officers describe the suspects as three black males who were wearing gloves and masks at the time of the burglary.
The store owner said the suspects made off with a laptop computer, but nothing else.
