Three people injured during four car accident in Godfrey

(KMOV.com) -- Three people were injured in a multi-vehicle accident in Godfrey, Illinois Tuesday morning.
 
Officials with the Godfrey Fire Department said the accident happened around 8:20 Tuesday morning on West Delmar Avenue near the Piasa Creek Bridge.  According to reports, an earlier accident had traffic backed up along Delmar Avenue.  Another driver, blinded by the sun, struck another motorist, causing a chain reaction.
 
Authorities said a total of four vehicles were involved in the crash.  Three people were reported to be injured.  Only one person was transported to an area hospital and that victim's injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
 
The accident has since been cleared and all lanes are open.
