(KMOV) -- While the homicide rate is down drastically in St. Louis this year, more than half remain unsolved.
There are also 77 outstanding homicide cases from 2010, including that of Tonia Parson, an 18-year-old who had graduated from McCluer North High School just five days before she was shot dead. She was three months pregnant. She was found inside her car, the window blown out by a bullet, on Palm in north St. Louis. It was around 3 o'clock in the afternoon on May 30, 2010.
The following interview is with Tonia's mom Michelle, a strong woman who is now honoring her daughter by telling her story of grief in hopes that young men will put down the pistol and pick up a degree, a job or an opportunity instead.
