Wentzville, Missouri (KMOV.com) – Trained search dogs are being brought in as authorities in Wentzville search for an elderly man who walked away from his home on Friday.

Investigators say Thomas John Trapp, 70, of the 200 block of Peruque Valley Drive told his wife he was going for a walk around 4:30 p.m. Friday and has not been seen since.

Police got that call around 8:30 and immediately launched the search effort.

Trapp is a white male, 5’11” 170 lbs. with blue eyes and glasses. He was last seen wearing a blue coat with gray on the sleeves (with a hood), a dark colored stocking cap, two tone tennis shoes- dark and light and blue jeans.  Police say that Mr. Trapp carries Catholic medals on his person, usually in jacket or pants pockets..

The missing man’s family describes him as “agitated and uneasy” recently. They say he doesn’t like the cold and is unable to walk far due to his legs hurting.

Police started searching on the ground and from the air an area of Hwy Z south of Interstate 70 near Trapp’s home.

Anyone with information should call Wentzville Police at (636) 639-2138.
