JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Two men are in custody after a fatal shooting involving a dispute over a loud muffler on a pickup truck.
The Jefferson City News Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/ru7D7L ) Jose Luis Hurtado and Rafael Fuentes were picked up Friday in Jefferson City. They have been charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Francisco Navarro, who was killed in a mobile home park west of Jefferson City. Authorities say Navarro was shot after getting out of a pickup truck to intervene in a fight.
Cole County Sheriff Greg White said Friday that a local lawyer had contacted the Cole County Prosecutor's Office on Thursday about the two turning themselves in. A detective then arranged the surrender through a family representative.
No attorneys were listed for the men in online court records.
