(KMOV) – Investigators say 56-year-old Anthony Matthews, Sr. was ambushed and shot multiple times around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night while leaving his home on 3rd Street in Venice, Illinois.
Matthews was the Streets Director in Venice, but also held a second job as a nightclub security guard. Illinois State Police say they witnesses saw a glimpse of the shooter, but their descriptions are too vague to identify a suspect.
Officers on the scene believe the gunman fired at Matthews at least 16 times.
Illinois State Police are asking for the public to help by calling in any tips at Crimestoppers at 866-371-TIPS.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
