FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS (KMOV) – Illinois secretary of state police will be placed in Fairview Heights Saturday and Sunday to write citations against drivers who illegally park in handicap spots in shopping outlets.
The department says police have issued 150 citations and removed 90 handicap placards since Black Friday.
Officials say they see a spike in use of disability placards during the holidays.
Police will be investigating illegally parked cars in the St. Clair Square mall and surrounding businesses trying to crack down on drivers using illegal disability placards.
