(KMOV.com) -- A fire that damaged a home in Columbia, Illinois may have started when a Christmas tree caught fire, officials said.

The Republic Times reported on Thursday that fire destroyed a Columbia home shortly after 7 p.m.

According to the Times, no one was injured.

Residents said they believed their Christmas tree was on fire, and immediately exited the home, officials say. Fire officials believe burning wood from the fireplace that rolled into the tree may be the cause of the fire.
