Chicago River turns green for St. Patrick's Day 2013

CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago's annual St. Patrick's Day celebration gets under way with a parade and the traditional dyeing of the Chicago River.

The secret-formula green dye will be dumped into the river near Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive early Saturday.

The St. Patrick's Day parade steps off at noon. It starts near Columbus Drive and Balbo Avenue in Grant Park and continues north to Monroe Street.

About 400,000 spectators turn out each year to see the river change color and to watch the parade.
