(FootballStL) -- The St. Louis Rams continued to be proactive early in free agency after officially signing tight end Jared Cook Wednesday.
Cook, 25, was drafted in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft by then-Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher. The Titans traded a 2010 second-round draft pick to acquire him with the 89th overall pick of the 2009 draft.
“I’m very excited to have the opportunity to coach Jared again,” Fisher stated in a press release. “His unique skill set will be an extremely valuable asset to our offense, and that’s why we made Jared a priority when free agency opened. We’re thrilled to have him.” ??
The signing of Cook adds to a tandem that already includes 25-year-old Lance Kendricks. ??
The 6-foot-5, 248-pound tight end was more productive in 13 games played last season than Kendricks and will add another threat to a Rams offense that could lose Danny Amendola, Steven Jackson and Brandon Gibson this offseason.??
Cook caught 44 passes for 523 yards and four touchdowns in 2012. Kendricks registered 42 receptions for 519 yards and four touchdowns.??
Since joining the NFL, Cook has 131 receptions with 1,717 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
