HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KMOV) – Police arrested a man on suspicion of drunk driving after he drove his SUV into a home overnight in Hazelwood.
Authorities say a Chevrolet Jimmy SUV crashed into a residence located at 3921 Dunn Road shortly after 1 a.m. The driver was reportedly intoxicated at the time of the wreck.
The car crashed so hard into the house, the driver was able to get out and walk around inside. The 80-year-old homeowner told police when he discovered the driver, the man asked him for a cigarette. When he refused the man fled into the woods.
Officers located the driver a few blocks away and took him into custody.
The unidentified man has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated. No further information has been released at this time.
No injuries were reported.
