HOUSTON -- The man accused of vandalizing a mural of President Obama at a Midtown Houston, Texas restaurant made his first court appearance on Wednesday.
Michael Kroetsch, 58, asked for a court-appointed attorney during Wednesday’s hearing.
Houston police arrested Kroetsch two weeks ago for defacing a mural of the president outside the Breakfast Klub in late January.
The mural had been vandalized several other times. At this point, police have not linked Kroetsch to the other incidents.
He’s being held on $20,000 bond.
If bailed out, a judge order warned Kroetsch to stay at least 200 feet away from the restaurant which is located at 3711 Travis Street in Houston.
