(BaeballstL) -- Lots of injury updates from Roger Dean Stadium as the Cards prepare for the Marlins. Here's the latest from Mike Matheny:
-- Rafael Furcal (elbow) is set to see Dr. James Andrews today for another opinion. The team is trying to gain some clarity on what the next course of action is with him. Does he need surgery or will rest and rehab be the best course of action with him? Ligament replacement surgery would likely sideline Furcal for the bulk of the 2013 season.
-- Mark Rzepczynski (arm) is "fine" according to Mike Matheny and will throw tomorrow against the Yankees here at Roger Dean Stadium. The lefty is a little bit sore but otherwise in good shape to keep going this spring.
-- David Freese is "fine" after landing on his tail bone in Monday's game while trying to catch a pop fly near the railing on the third base side. Freese will continue to keep ice on it but Matheny says it's nothing that the team is too concerned about. He even went so far as to say if this was a regular season game Freese would be playing. It's just that with this much time left in spring training they don't want to play someone who's even a little bit sore. There's a long regular season awaiting them.
-- Allen Craig is getting closer to playing the field. He'll be the DH once again today but Matheny says he's excited by how his arm feels right at the moment. There's no date set for when he will play in the field but the manager says giving us specific target dates "don't work anyway".
