(KMOV) – A man who allegedly killed his estranged girlfriend and shot his daughter is dead after being shot by police in south St. Louis Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, the incident happened in the 4600 block of Tennessee around 1 p.m. When officers responded to the scene, they found a woman on the front porch with gunshot wounds.
Police said she was taken to SLU hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
She and the shooter’s 14-year-old daughter was shot once in the arm and once in the leg during the incident. She was taken to a local children’s hospital in stable condition and was expected to survive.
SWAT units initially surrounded the home because they thought the shooter and two-year-old twins may be inside. But when they used a robot to search the house, no one was there.
Shortly after units searched the house, an officer was involved in a shooting in the 4100 block of Turner Avenue. According to police, the suspect in the initial shooting fled to a home in that area, and got in a chase with police.
An officer chased the suspect down and shot him dead.
According to police, the suspect and victim both worked at Target, where he was recently fired. Police said the suspect was going to her house and were in the process of breaking up when something went wrong.
