FAIRVIEW, OR (KPTV) -A Fairview, Oregon woman found pieces of pork chop stuffed with pain pills and a fish hook lying in the grass while she was out walking her dog on Monday.
Fairview police say the meat was found in an alley between some houses off of Seventh and Halsey. The alley is right next to a park where many in the area bring their dogs.
Neighbors believe the meat was left there to hurt their dogs.
“I looked down and saw my dog chewing on large pieces of pork chop, and when I reached in I found pills and a fishhook,” said neighbor Trisch Morrison. “I got it out of her mouth, but then saw others around her.”
Morrison called police about the meat, and then warned all of her neighbors.
"I was extremely irate. I instantly wanted to go on a hunt to find out who did this,” said neighbor Melissa Sanchez.
Morrison and some of her neighbors say they walked around the block to make sure there wasn't any more of the meat lying around.
“I mean it was on the ground, with pills and fish hooks. That says they're going after something, and it's not human,” Morrison said.
Morrison tells FOX 12 that so far, her dog seems to be OK. But, knowing whoever did this is still out there is reason enough to be on guard.
“I hope they get caught and I hope karma gets them," Morrison said.
Fairview police say they are looking for the person responsible for leaving the meat behind.
Investigators tell FOX 12 that so far this appears to be an isolated incident, and no animals have been injured.
