ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – The St. Louis Zoo’s newest resident, a Sumatran orangutan, born on Dec. 14, now has a name.
More than 67,600 people participated by voting online and at the zoo to name the baby Orangutan.
The winning name, receiving 43.9 percent of the votes, was Ginger. Lucy came in second-place with 33.8 percent of the vote and Cranberry received 7.6 percent.
Ginger and her mom can be viewed in the Jungle of the Apes public habitat for varying times between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily.
